Movies I Can’t Wait To See Part Deux

As it was a little difficult to fit EVERYTHING I want to see in one article, here is the second half of ‘Upcoming movies I Can’t Wait to See!’ and reasons why they are not to be missed!

Iron Man 2

Release Date:  May 7, 2010 Starring:  Robert Downey Jr, Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson, Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell Director:  Jon Favreau

Synopsis:  Plot unknown; Set six months after the events of the first movie, Tony Stark (Downey Jr.) struggles with the effects of living two lives; meanwhile, he must prepare to face a series of enemies and threats.

Why I want to see:  Because the first one was so awesome!  Because I love Don Cheadle and am so happy he took over for Terence Howard.  My only concern is that it doesn’t suffer the curse of ‘too many bad guys’ such as Spidey 3 did…  that was just a huge mishmash!

Prince Of Persia; The Sands of Time

Release Date:  May 28, 2010

Starring:  Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton, Ben Kingsley, Alfred Molina

 Director:  Mike Newell

Synopsis:  Set in medieval Persia, a rogue prince (Gyllenhaal) joins a mysterious princess (Arterton) in an effort to prevent a dark force from obtaining an ancient dagger that allows its handler to rule the world.

Why I want to see:  because Jakey looks pretty buff and I will see Ben Kingsley in pretty much anything he does.

Sex and The City Movie 2

Release Date:  May 28, 2010

Starring:   Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kirsten Davis, Cynthia Nixon, Chris Noth

Director:   Michael Patrick King

Synopsis:  No one really knows… however who cares!

Why I want to see:  My ladies are coming back for more!  SATC has done more for single women and friendships then any therapy session!  Even though I was a wee bit disappointed in the 1st movie (Carrie’s whinyness went to a whole new level of crazyness – really, a peacock feather?  Thanks wardrobe!),  I will see because since 1998, these ladies have been considered part of my friendship circle.  Hours have been spent watching, laughing, agreeing and sympathizing…  I wouldn’t miss it for anything!

The A- Team

Release Date:  June 11, 2010

Starring:   Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Sharlto Copley, Patrick Wilson, Brian Bloom, Jessica Beil

Director:   Joe Carnahan

Synopsis:  A group of Iraq War veterans looks to clear their name with the U.S. military, who suspect the four men of committing a crime for which they were framed.

Why I want to see:  Because the cast looks awesome!  After ‘Taken’, I was extremely impressed with Liam’s kick ass persona and am dying to see more!  Plus with the eye candy of Bradley Cooper and the edition of the talented Sharlto Copley from ‘District 9’ – I’m pretty stoked!  As well, I didn’t realize Brian Bloom was still acting (apparently he is one of the screenwriters as well!), so that is peaking my curiosity as well as I had a HUGE crush on him in the early 90’s – those dreamy eyes….

Honorable Mentions

Jonah HexRelease Date:  June 18, 2010Starring:  Josh Brolin, Megan Fox, John Malkovich

Synopsis:  The U.S. military gives bounty hunter Jonah Hex (Brolin) and offer he cannot refuse: in exchange for his freedom from the warrants on his head, he’s to take down a terrorist (Malkovich) who is gathering an army and preparing to unleash Hell on Earth.

Why I’m Curious and will give it a shot:  I haven’t heard much about it, however it does look like fun!  I wish John Malkovich was in more movies…

Release Date: July 23, 2010

Starring:  Angelina Jolie, Liev Schreiber, Chewitel Ejiofor

Synopsis:  When CIA officer Evelyn Salt (Jolie) is called a spy by a Russian defector, she goes on the run, putting all of her experience and skills to use to elude capture, learn the truth of her identity, and hopefully clear her name.

Why I am Curious:  As I’m not a huge fan of Angie’s personal persona (something is up there…) I do enjoy her in action flicks and am curious to see how they reversed the role that was originally to be for Tom Cruise (Angie will be MUCH better as I dislike Tom even more!).  Plus, I do love Chewitel Ejiofor (check out ‘Kinky Boots’!) and hope to see him much more in the future.
