Top Five Greatest British Movies

1. Death at a Funeral: A wildly funny British comedy, Death at a Funeral brings the best aspects of the dialect and the clever humor to light.
2. Snatch: A great Guy Ritchie film that followed “Locked, Stocked, and Two Smoking Barrels”.
3. 28 Days Later: A near perfect post-apocalyptic zombie thriller that rose Danny Boyle higher on the film spectrum.
4. Trainspotting: Another great film from master director Danny Boyle.
5. The Bridge on the River Kwai: A classic film from the director of Lawrence of Arabia, which stars Alec Guinness as a strong willed army Colonel.

  1. Honorable Mentions:
    – The Full Monty
    – Millions
    – Hot Fuzz
    – Moulin Rouge!
    – Austin Powers Trilogy (International Man of Mystery, The Spy Who Shagged Me, & Goldmember)

  2. A bit modern, don’t you think?

    I’d put down
-Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
    -Lawrence of Arabia
    -Bridge on the River Kwai
    -Trainspotting
    and finally a tie between
-A Fish Called Wanda & Kidulthood

    Worth mention,

    Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps
The Ladykillers (the original Alec Guiness version)
    The full monty
    The Crying Game was pretty
    and
    My left foot

  3. True, but I think that Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz are tied with Snatch for #2, though I would also tie Revolver with it, another great Guy Ritchie film. I would put Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels at a #4 tie. I would make Sunshine a #1 tie, but they ALL spoke English in it, though they were almost all British or Australian!
