Resident Evil:Afterlife-Review

Alice (Milla Jovovich) is back for vengeance and she brought some friends, her clones. The film starts off with Alice’s clones violently bringing down the Umbrella Corporation in Japan and its boss, Albert Wesker (Shawn Roberts). Something goes wrong and Alice doesn’t complete her mission to take down the Corporation. Some time passes by and the film picks back up with Alice piloting an airplane looking for survivors. She heads to the location where Claire Redfield (Ali Larter) and a couple of others, from Resident Evil:Extinction, escaped to for safety. Alice finds Claire, who has amnesia and a deserted town packed with empty airplanes. The film follows Alice and Claire to an area when survivors are on the roof top of a building, surrounded by thousands of the undead below trying to get in. Can Alice rescue the survivors and bring them to safety? Does Alice have enough strength to fight off thousands of the undead until help arrives? Is this the last Resident Evil movie?

Review:

I thought the film was okay, nothing compared to the other three Resident Evils. I didn’t like that this film was made for 3-D only and couldn’t be viewed in 2-D. 3-D was not a necessity and could have been made without it. There is another part in the film I didn’t like but I don’t want to give it away so you will just have to watch for yourself. I did like how the character Wesker looked just like the game character and moved like him too. I enjoyed the idea of the undead evolving to having octopus legs in place of the mouth. If I had to pick a scene to evaluate, it would be the beginning when the Alice clones were fighting the Umbrella Corporation. It was obvious that her powers grew because she moved faster (meaning dodging bullets) and her telekinesis improved. The special effects were on the great side along with makeup effect for the undead. The storyline could use some work because it seemed that something was missing or that too many scenes were taken out to shorten the film. To me, there wasn’t enough fighting with the undead like the other three films, just too much talking. All in all, I can view this film only on demand on Netflix but I probably wont buy it.

  1. I don’t agree that the effects were on the great side even in the very beginning. Everything looked so fake especially in the Alice clones part. The costumes were bad and so is the make-up.

  2. Milla Jovoish is one of my favorite actress, I think she really did an good job in this movie, I feel the movie keep you on your toes, its like watching a gigantic video game, so many things happening in this movie keep you guessing and wandering what’s gonna happen next. The costumes, they were a little tacky, the make up was awful, but still the movie is good and I would watch it again. I really feel they do not need to make any extra part 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 to this movie, Just stop right here.
