Top 5 Underrated Crime Dramas

The crime drama is a really difficult film to make, because it has to be street smart enough to be true-to-life, and dramatic enough to not leave the viewer bored. The movies on this list, to me, were all very good, and were heavily underrated. The people behind these movies were very good, and yet, nobody gave a good bit of praise to anything about the movies. My list consists of:

Heads-Up: I’m not giving reasons, I’ll let you all discover those.

5. Street Kings – Director: David Ayer

4. Gone Baby Gone – Director: Ben Affleck

3. Four Brothers – Director: John Singleton

2. Brooklyn’s Finest – Director: Antoine Fuqua

1. Pride & Glory – Director: Gavin O’Connor

  1. I’d put Gone Baby, Gone at the top of the list…and get rid of Street Kings and Brooklyn’s Finest.

Here’s what my list would look like…

    We Own The Night
    Gone Baby, Gone
    Mystic River
    Narc
    Deep Blue

  2. We own the night was good, Mystic River wasn’t underrated in my opinion, and Narc was also good. Narc and we own the night would probably be in my honorable mentions. Nice list, though.

  3. Do you really think Gone Baby Gone and Mystic River was underrated. They were critically acclaimed and were nominated for a bunch of awards, weren’t they?

I do agree with We Own the Night, however. And I wish people would quite hating on Brooklyn’s Finest. It was a very good film.

  4. Well, Gone Baby Gone was “acclaimed” in The Town’s trailer to make people go “ooh, this director must be good.” It was EXTREMELY underseen and underrated, whereas Mystic River was Oscar-nominated, but it didn’t get the attention it deserved. Agreed on the last two, though.
