Last House on the Left

Last House on the Left

(Run time: 114 min. – Directed by: Dennis Iliadis – Starring: Garret Dillahunt, Michael Bowen, Joshua Cox, Sarah Paxton)

Sweet, sweet revenge. The horror thriller remake of the 1972 Wes Craven original, Last House on the Left (2009) has what it takes. Twists and turns that take you from the depths of mans evil, ugly side all the way to the heights of a fathers sweet vengeance. Not only does it keep you watching throughout the journey but it has one of the best lines I’ve heard in a long time. But, I’ll get to that in a minute.

When convicted killer, Krug (Garret Dillahunt) violently escapes police custody his crazy family decides to hide out in a small mountain town. At the sametime a busy doctor his wife and daughter are heading up to their secluded vacation home on the lake. When the daughter Mari, played by Sarah Paxton decides to visit her friend Paige, played by Martha MacIsaac, they run into Justin, played by Spencer Treat Clark, things spin out of control when they find out he’s really Krug’s son. Trusting no one and not wanting to get caught the sadistic family kidnaps the two girls.Ironically, as they then try to escape through the mountain they run into problems that lead them right to Mari’s vacation home and her unknowing mother and father. But, when they do find out what’s happened to their daughter they set out to make sure nothing like this happens again.

Entertaining and shocking. I loved it while I hated it. One scene was a little much for me while the closing scene was just right. I recommend this movie to any horror, thriller, or Wes Craven fans who haven’t already seen it.

Oh yeah, and those great lines I mentioned earlier here they are…

The killer asks the furious father, “You wanna hear what I did to Mary? I bet you do, pervert. You wanna hear how tight your little homecoming queen was?”

In which the father simply replies, “No, I wanna hear you beg for your fucking life!”

I loved it.
