The Top 10 Movies of 2023

As 2023 came to a close, this list will go through the year’s best films from all major studios & streaming services. Original series & TV series will not be included, however, movies that had streaming service release will be included.

Honorable Mentions:

“Saw X” – A great addition to the franchise & really brings home the entertaining aspects of the first 2 films & a stellar performance from the main character.

“Creed 3” – Michael B. Jordan does a great job both in front & behind the camera. Johnathon Majors also gives a great performance.

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” – A great entry to the franchise with incredible animation that can rival another film on this list but there’s only room for one.

#10 – “Sisu” This Action thriller hit theaters in April of 2023 & follows a former Finnish soldier who is taking a bag full of gold behind enemy lines the closing days of WWII. While this movie follows a very basic plotline, but it does in a much brutal & darker execution.

#9 – “Air” This biopic was directed by Ben Afleck & stars Matt Damon debuted at SXSW Film Festival in March of 2023 & then Prime Video the following month. This tells the tale of the most recognizable shoe in all of professional sports & a brief glimpse into the athlete that inspired it.

#8 – “Evil Dead Rise” This addition to the horror franchise was an ultra-bloody & gory film much like its 80’s original & 2013 remake. It delivered on all parts from acting, writing, directing & cinematography.

#7 – “Talk to Me” This horror thriller was brought us by a team of “YouTubers” and really made an impressive film that had a great performance from the lead actress & had a very unique take on the supernatural.

#6 – “Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1” – The 7th installment of this franchise proves why Tom Cruise is still one the biggest movie stars of all time.

#5 – “The Killer” David Fincher & Netflix bring this thriller masterpiece that is both action packed & mysterious. Michael Fassbender gives a phenomenal performance along with Fincher’s signature filmmaking style come together for damn good action thriller.

#4 – “The Iron Claw” A24 bring us this intense biopic that both heavy hearted & tragic and is catapulted by a career performance from Zac Efron. This biopic centers around a family in the world of professional wrestling that quickly becomes tragic as 4 brothers try to live up to their legendary father’s career.

#3 – “Spider Man: Across the Spider Verse” This sequel capitalizes on the success of the previous while also introducing new characters & expanding the universe. The animation is top notch as well as the voice acting.

#2 – “Godzilla: Minus One” The Japanese production studio, ToHo, proved even though they haven’t made an original Godzilla film in 7 years, they can still deliver something much entertaining & suspenseful than the 5 American studio films that were released in those 7 years.

#1 – “John Wick: Chapter 4” Much like Tom Cruise, Keanu Reeves is another big-time action movie star & proves he is still the man. Supposedly the last film in this franchise, this film deliver finality in a way that both action packed & thrilling. A bittersweet ending to an awesome franchise.
