Irresponsible Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) is one of Air Force’s best pilots but after destroying an expensive air craft during a sales training exercise, many begin to question his judgment. During that time in another universe, a legend of warriors called the Green Lantern Corps has lost members by the hands of their greatest enemy Parallax (Fear). Parallax uses fear to obtain power and destroy planets. Before the last Green Lantern dies from battling Fear, his ring must pick a replacement-which sends him to Earth. Green Lanterns believe that humans are the weakest race in the universe so they don’t take kindly to the new replacement. Hal is now given great responsibility and has to defend Earth from Fear. Can Hal set his priorities and learn to master the ring? Will Hal’s platonic relationship with his flying partner, Carol Ferris (Blake Lively) get in the way of keeping his identity hidden?
Review: I enjoyed watching this film, not because of Hal’s sculpture-like body but because it was entertaining. I liked that the ring only picks those who doesn’t show fear yet it picked Hal who’s afraid everyday because of his father’s death-ironic. The ring taught him the power of courage instead of the power of invincibility. The machinery that the ring produced was impressive. Even though, there was a love interest, I like that the film didn’t focus all of its energy towards it. I liked that the film didn’t distract the audience by putting Blake’s character in skimpy outfits, like Transformers. Carol is intelligent, a great business woman and a hard worker-always a winner in my book. The fight scenes were fun, first Hal wins a few then the villain wins a few and so forth. All in all, I will see this film again.
