A brilliant masterpiece from director John dahl starring Nicholas Cage in one of his best roles of his career playing a drifter who is mistakened by a bar owner as the hit man he has hired to kill his wife. The only problem is that nicholas cage ends up falling in love with the bartender’s wife played by Lara Flynn Boyle.
When the real hit man shows up played with menace by dennis hopper everything falls apart and on top of that the bartender’s wife pays nicholas cage money to kill her husband.
A twisted and fascinating film noir with a stellar cast. John Dahl who would later direct The Last Seduction and Joyride set the right mood for this film and has chosen a very well written script. Nicholas Cage, Dennis Hopper and J.T. Walsh perfect in their roles and the film will keep you on the edge of your seat till the final credits roll onto the screen.
Very good.
