Iron Man 2 is of course the sequel to Iron Man, which was an accomplishing film of 2008. The movie starts off with the villain Ivan Vanko (Mickey Rourke) comforting his father as he dies envying Tony Starks (Robert Downey Jr.) on T.V. wishing it was his son in Starks place of success. After the death of Vanko’s father, he starts plotting revenge against Starks using his physics skills to support his demise creating a man-made high electric-volt device. In the meantime, Starks is at the peak of his career and his ego with the opening of the Starks Industries expo. Although, Starks is at the peak of his Iron Man career, fame comes with consequences. With the government trying to confiscate his Iron Man armor because they believe that terrorists will try to duplicate to use against America, to Stark’s fear that his most recent priceless electric heart which is helping him live is also killing him. Review:
Iron Man 2 is the type of movie that fans anticipate for a long time and rush to the movies to see on opening weekend, me being one of them. But while viewing the film I started getting bored with the repetition of the same topics being portrayed over and over again (Starks dying and Vanko wanting to kill him). Some of the characters, one in particular, was not a necessity to be in the storyline. For instance, Natasha Romanoff/Natalie Rushman (Scarlettt Johansson) plays a top secret agent that works for Starks Industries undercover as a notary to uncover and keep and eye on what Tony Starks is doing. When you watch this film you will see that the secret agent is not needed because her boss Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) later tells Starks everything he knows about his industry and more. Rushman was just a good eye-candy using a lot of flips to make-up a sad fight scene against many male opponents. Sure there is a moment or two during the action scenes of Starks fighting side-by-side with James Rhodey Rhodes (Don Cheadle) in the Iron Man armors against other malice technology advanced machines that makes you focus back on the movie but it doesn’t last long. All in all, I usually have to go to the restroom due to the overly indulged amount of soft drinks that leaves me sprinting but with this movie I took my time. What does that tell you? When I came back, I didn’t miss anything worth rushing for. Hopefully the Avengers (Captain America and Thor), which is suppose to be a continuation of this film, will avenge my views on the stories characters.
