Steve Martin, Owen Wilson and Jack Black star in the PG-rated ‘The Big Year’
I point out the rating since there is no violence to see or bad language to hear
There is a competition where people count the number of birds they can spot
They travel all over the country and go to places that are cold and that are hot
It’s interesting to see how they track the birds due to events like a big storm
Doing whatever it takes to get to these birds for them seems to be the norm
It takes a full calendar year to do this and, in the end, only one can be the best
Each of these guys has personal and work relationships that are put to the test
There are very different life situations which play into the story for these three
They have to find out who they really are and who they really want to be
There are so many recognizable faces in supporting roles that you can play a game
You can make your own competition to see how many of them you know by name
This film is fine and slightly above average with a few chuckles along the way
If you like the three main leads, and/or you like birds, then check this out, I say
