10 Best War Movies Ever

Since war is such a part of our lives, and really every generation’s life, I believe that I can honestly put the best war movies in an order which suits the perfection of them. These movies are moving, in nature, and are perfectly acted. The direction and scripts for these movies are near, if not, perfect.

10. The Patriot
9. Gods & Generals
8. We Were Soldiers
7. Inglourious Basterds
6. Schindler’s List
5. The Hurt Locker
4. Full Metal Jacket
3. Miracle at St. Anna
2. The Thin Red Line
1. Saving Private Ryan

And

If it counted, Avatar would have been #1, but it doesn’t apply.

  1. Platoon?
    Apocalypse Now?
    Black Hawk Down?
    A Bridge Too Far?
    Glory?
    Patton?
    The Great Escape?
    Casablanca?
    The Deer Hunter?
    Braveheart?
    Lawrence of Arabia?
    Das Boot?
    The Bridge Over River Kwai?

  2. Platoon – I hate Oliver Stone
    Apocalypse Now – was good.
Black Hawk Down – was good.
A Bridge too Far – Not really my type of movie
    Glory – Denzel was amazing
    Patton – Scott was amazing
The Great Escape – Too cheesy to effect audiences
    Casablanca – No.
The Deer Hunter – Yet again, good, but not top ten worthy.
Braveheart – Forgot to include that one.
Lawrence of Arabia – Not very good.
Das Boot – WAY to goddamn long
BORK – Good movie. Not quite on my list, though.

  3. Ha ha…BORK.

I thought Gods and Generals wasn’t too good at all as a movie. Its all war. No characters. Its like a game of Risk made into a movie. I still appreciate the detail the movie goes in as far as historical recreation, but really it felt more like a history channel special than an actual movie.

  4. yeah, it was dull, but though it was all war there were scenes in between that made the realism of the war, and Stephen Lang’s acting as Stonewall Jackson really made it a great movie.
