“Crash” is the 2004 drama directed by Paul Haggis, starring Don Cheadle, Sandra Bullock, and Matt Dillon. The movie follows the lives of several people and how their lives all connect throughout the film. The film mainly is the idea of modern-day racism, discrimination, and stereotyping by all races and religions in Los Angeles. The film follows a black detective (Cheadle), a white district attorney (Brendan Fraser), a mixed director (Terrence Howard), a Hispanic locksmith (Michael Peña), two black carjackers (Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and Larenz Tate), a Persian store-owner (Shaun Toub), and two white LAPD officers (Matt Dillon and Ryan Philippe).
The film finds a way to follow all these characters and at the same time have their lives intertwine with one another without losing your attention during the transition. The film does a great job of being realistic and showing the racism behind every person and also the way each responds to certain situations. It places a great deal of emphasis on racism but it does a great job of doing it.
Don Cheadle and Terrence Howard were but I think the film would have benefited from a more unheard of cast because it was going for a realistic look and it would be better if you didn’t recognize most of the actors. The film not only does a great job of showing how people really think but it also is great at showing interaction between other characters and introducing the problems they face.
The acting was very good, the story was entertaining, and there weren’t a lot of useless or pointless scenes, so it really is a great film. This film is worth buying for sure and if you haven’t seen it then you’re really missing out.
