The preview to a movie is everything with marketing. It tells the viewers who is in it, why they should see it, who is directing, and what the film is about. The music is also normally good in a great preview. I am making this list because I have seen many movies where the trailer was fantastic, but the film was dreadful. I hope that Hollywood starts making previews that reflect the ability of the movie, and not just put all of the best parts in the film in a slide show and put some startling music to it. Here are my picks for the top five greatest film trailers ever.
5. The Scientist (2010) – Director: Zach LeBeau – The short and sweet trailer (clocking in at around 56 seconds) makes you want so much more, and you can now get so much more since the film was released on April 16.

4. Avatar (2009) – Director: James Cameron – The original trailer for Avatar, which was unveiled on www.apple.com/trailers was so amazing that it inticed me even though I had already been waiting two years to see this movie.

3. Inception (2010) – Director: Christopher Nolan – The Brits are at it again with this fantastic-looking feature that seems like it could be the year’s best film. The trailer is amazing, and the Nolans have never made a bad movie, so it should be VERY good.

2. Dark City (1998) – Director: Alex Proyas – Australian director alex Proyas’s fantastic film Dark City (which many people said was a rip-off of The Matrix, though The Matrix came out a full year after Dark City) had a fantastic trailer set to the original song “Sleep Now” by Hughes Hall. It is a must see trailer:

1. Terminator: Salvation (2009) – Director: McG – Though the movie was the worst of the whole year last year, the trailer was the greatest trailer I have ever seen. The trailer before the one that said it was PG-13 (which ruined Terminator forever) and after the original trailer which just said some stuff.
