Movie and Film Reviews (MFR) Comedy 21 Jump Street-Review

21 Jump Street-Review

High school social opposites, straight A’s Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and sports jock Jenko (Channing Tatum) reunite at the police academy. They decide to utilize each other’s talent to graduate. After they are deemed policeman, their excitement heightens at the thought of everyday being filled with action and adventure. With a bike instead of a squad car and a stroll in the park instead of car chasing, cop life is not what they expected. They are reassigned to 21 jump street after mishaps during their first arrest. Captain Dickson automatically casts the pair as useless but valuable because of their youthful appearance. So he sends them back to high school to stop and catch the leaders of a smuggling drug ring. Will Schmidt return as the less popular high achiever and Jenko the popular jock? Will this assignment effect their friendship? Will they catch the dealer?

Review:
Two words, “wow” and “hilarious.” Omgoodness, this movie had my cheeks and stomach hurting. The laughs happen right from the beginning as the relationship starts between Schmidt and Jenko. I was so happy to see Channing in a movie he belongs because comedy is it for him. He should never ever play a trojan solider again; that was a great mistake. In this film his character plays a slow-minded and sensitive yet strong persona that was done brilliantly. Jonah, of course has always been funny but-in my opinion-gave his best performance. I have so many favorites scenes that I kept rewinding the film. I love their goofy bromance. I don’t usually condone a film that has “too many” curse words like with Captain Dickson but I will let it pass. The different ways he kept making fun of the duo but kept a serious face and scary tone was so rewarding to my funny bone. The other cast members were also fantastic as they helped brought about great plot points (from the TV series) and even they were hilarious. This is a great film for the bros or date night but the female has to be open-minded because there are some x-rated jokes said but fun. I highly recommend everyone see this film. All in all, I will buy this film on Blu-Ray.
