“John Wick 3: Parabellum” is directed by Chad Stahelski who also directed the previous 2 films. Along with Stahelski is some of the cast from previous films including Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane & Laurence Fishburne. Newcomers include Halle Berry, Angelica Hudson, Mark Dacascos, Asia Kate Dillion, Lance Reddick & Said Taghmaoui. After the surprising hit the first film was, it was only fitting that sequel followed and then once again another hit. My opinion, “Chapter 2” was damn good but it didn’t have the same emotional weight that the first one had.

In “Chapter 2”, John Wick (Reeves) has broken the sacred rule of The Continental Hotel as he murdered Santino D’Antonio (played by Riccardo Scamarcio). The manager, Winston (McShane), is left with no choice but to mark John as ‘excommunicado’ and The High Table has placed a $14 million bounty on him as well. Now on the run, John must fend off waves of hired guns, assassins, henchmen and anyone else trying to cash in on his bounty including The High Table’s “Adjudicator” (Dillion) and her hired hit man, Zero (Decascos). John tries to stay one step ahead of The High Table with help from his old mentor (Hudson), the Bowery King (Fishburne) and former friend and assassin Sofia (Berry). The constant running and fighting leads John all over the world in search of a mysterious “Elder” (Taghmaoui) , the only man who is higher ranked than The Higher Table. John must take on his greatest challenge or die trying.

The franchise as a whole has one breathtaking action sequence after a another and keeps going. Parabellum was fantastic in every sense of the word. Keanu Reeves proves he’s still the man in his 50s from his acting to his Stunt work and everything in between. Part one was a surprise hit, 2 was a great follow up and now 3 brings it home while never taking its foot off the gas. The cast was great, action was awesome and definitely ups the ante on future action films.

Overall, this was a great 3rd chapter in the series. Personally, should this trilogy end here I’d be okay with it but however shortly after this film’s release, Summit has already announced a Chapter 4 for a 2021 release. As long as the acting and action stay the same, things can only get better from here on out. Sometimes continuing the story does become difficult but as long as the cast and crew can be consistent, all should be good in the long run.
