“Piranha 3-D” is a horror movie about pre-historic fish being released by a fissure in a lake. “Piranha” stars Elisabeth Shue, Jerry O’Connell, and Christopher Lloyd.
“Piranha” starts out on a high note but ends on a low note. The movie starts out with a local fisher who accidently drops a beer bottle in the lake, when the beer bottle hits the bottom it causes a fault and nearly splits the lake in half. The pressure from the bottom causes a massive whirlpool and just about swallows the fisher and his boat, when the fisher falls out of the boat fish rise from the bottom and start attacking him leading to a bloody death. A few days later, we meet up with Julie (Shue), who is the towns sheriff getting ready to deal with the kids from “Lake Victoria High School” for spring break. Once Julie finds the body of the fisher in the lake, she knows somethings wrong. She goes to Mr. Goodman (Lloyd) and brings him one of the piranha’s as a sample to examine, he explains that the piranha she brought him has been dead for over two million years. Mr. Goodman says that Julie needs to get everybody out of the lake but the high school students don’t want to cooperate with her so they stay in the water. The students soon find out they should have listened to Julie because over one hundred kids have now been eaten alive by the deadly creatures. How will Julie save everybody including her son who left with Derrick (O’Connell) for a lake tour.
The 3-D effects in “Piranha” were amazing. There were many parts where the piranha’s just jumped out at you. 3-D is for horror movies and this movie proves it.
“Piranha’s” soundtrack was great too. It had many up-beat and partying songs which is good for the movies theme.
Overall, “Piranha 3-D” is a good gorey movie and will make you jump out of your seat. I would reccommend to any horror movie fan.
