The concept of this film is to invade someone’s dream, where they are most vulnerable, and capture hidden secrets. This is done by a device that connects the dreamer and the invader to the dreamer’s dream. An architect is used to create a world for the dreamer to make it easier for the invader to steal secrets. This is called extraction. Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is the expert of extraction. A terrible incident caused Cobb to never return to America and be with his children. Until, he extracts Saito (Ken Watanabe), a rich businessman with a nearly impossible mission for Cobb. In return, Saito guarantees that he can get Cobb to America after the mission is complete. So Cobb starts a team, Ariadne (Ellen Page), the architect, Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) Cobb’s right hand man, Robert Fisher, Jr. (Cillian Murphy) the con, and Eames (Tom Hardy) the forger. Now Cobb must press for time and security to achieve the task at hand because when someone sleeps, their subconscious has a protective barrier, meaning men with heavy artillery. Can Cobb and his team make it out of Fisher Jr.’s dream without getting killed? Will Cobb see his children again or will he spend life in prison?
Review:
Kudos to Christopher Nolan! I absolutely love that this film is so original. The concept is mind-bottling and innovative. The graphics are surreal, just like a real dream. I love the dream within a dream idea. When someone wakes up from a dream only to discover he or she is still dreaming a different dream. I love Leo, he’s always such a phenomenal actor. Suspense sections in some movies usually doesn’t have me at the end of my seat because I know what’s coming. I’m happy to say that this film didn’t do that. I stayed at the end for nearly the entire movie because once a situation seems to be solved, a turn of events creeps behind. I enjoyed the connection to Leo’s character and the entire movie. His character is the solution and the problem to the film. My favorite part, besides looking at Leo, was the ending. It was a happy ending but then it wasn’t. I don’t want to give away the movie, but it’s worth watching. I will buy the DVD and take pleasure in watching this movie over and over again.
You stayed at the end of nearly the entire movie? I’m a little confused as to what you mean by that.
DUDE! I always give away info that I shouldn’t, and telling people the ending was good, which it was, probably the best ever when mixed with atmosphere, ruins the surprise!!!
