It’s not so easy to say or remember the title ‘Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close’
The story stems from the 9/11 tragedy and, of those images, there’s a good dose
A young boy loses his father in the World Trade Center and calls it ‘the worst day’
He’s a very smart kid, almost annoyingly so, with signs of Aspergers some would say
He finds a key in his dad’s closet and begins an adventure to find out what it’s for
He wants to know if it opens a lock on a safe deposit box, a storage locker or a door
Flashbacks and memories show the good times shared between the dad and son
They enjoyed playing games together and he thinks the key might be another one
During his adventure he befriends an elderly man who doesn’t speak a word
This man writes in a little book the comments and messages he wants heard
As the story unfolds there are moments of sadness as the events of 9/11 are shown
The ending is emotional as all the pieces to this puzzle of a film are made known
Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock are the parents and the boy is played by Thomas Horn
It’s a decent film but there are minor plot holes and it gets manipulative, I must warn
