Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Genre – Drama, Romance, Comedy.

Rated – R.

Year – 2004.

Running Time – 1 hour and 48 minutes.

Director – Michel Gondry.

Stars – Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet, Kirsten Dunst, Mark Ruffalo, Elijah Wood, Tom Wilkinson, Jane Adams, David Cross, and Deirdre O’Connell.

Story Breakdown – A man learns that his ex-girlfriend has had him literally erased from her memory, so he decides to undergo the same procedure. After beginning though, he starts to have second thoughts.

Oscar Wins – (1) – Original Screenplay.

My Rating – 3 and 1/2 (out of 4)

Review – Odd, funny, bitter, and entertaining film is extremely well-crafted. It takes some conventional romance plots and changes them up brilliantly with twists by having a strange, intelligent screenplay. The direction, camerawork, and settings are all rewarding, but it’s the cast that really stands out; Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet give some of their finest work and are perfect together. A rare, special treasure of a film.

  1. I loved Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind because it was just so original. I haven’t seen anything like it.
The acting was great as well but where could you really go wrong with the actors that were in it?
I am a big Jim Carrey fan. It was refreshing to see him in a drastically different role than his norm.
A little difficult to follow at first but when I found out what was going on I was nothing but impressed.
