When Linda (Leslie Mann) discovers that her long time companion of fifteen years, who is a Macaw named Blu (Jesses Eisenberg), is on the verge of extinction and the only way to save his kind is to travel to Rio to mate with the last female Macaw, Jewel (Anne Hathaway). After a failed attempt to romance Jewel, they are taken in the night to be caged and sold to the highest bidder, along with other helpless birds. There is also another problem because Linda found Blu when he was a baby, Blu never learned to fly. Can Blu escape the bird smugglers without his natural-born instinct? Will Linda ever find Blu? Will Blu and Jewel save their race?
Review:
I didn’t like the film too much. I found it to be boring and dull. I did, on the other hand, like the colors animation. I thought it brought about a nice vibrant spirit to Rio and its culture. I love watching animated films but this one is not on my list of favorites. I believe this film would appeal more to children rather than the whole family because of the silly monkey dancing, overplays of musical scenes, and mild violence to get a child to smile; which is what the film was made for and that’s good. So, all in all, I will not see this film again.
