Martin Harris finds out that he is not who he thinks he is. Uknown is a thriller/action/mystery film all in one. The movie stars Liam Neeson, Diane Kruger, January Jones, Adian Quinn and Frank Langella. It takes place present day in Berlin.
After ariving at the airport in Berlin Dr. Martin Harris (Liam Neeson) and his wife Liz (January Jones) get into a cab and head to their hotel. After the short drive there Liz gets out and tells Martin she will go check in while he gets the bags. But Martin notices that his brief case is missing. So without bothering to tell Liz he gets another cab and heads back to the airport. As they are driving a truck’s cargo infront of them comes loose Gina (Diane Kruger) who is the driver swerves and ends up falling off the bridge into the water. She manages to break out of the car but notices that Martin has hit his head and is unconcious. She goes back to rescue him and once the paramedics arrives she takes off. Martin wakes up in a hospital and can’t remember much but the doctor tells him his memory will slowly come back. He starts to wonder why his wife isn’t looking for him. He leaves the hospital and goes back to the hotel which is also where the confrence is where he is suppose to give his report. He sees Liz with other people who are at the confrence. He manages to get in even though he has no identification but when he goes up to Liz, she saids she doesn’t know him. She then calls over Martin (Aidan Quinn) who claims to be Liz’s husband. The real Martin Harris is confused and after he talks to security guards who shows him tapes of the day they checked in and the other Martin is there checking in with Liz. Martin Harris is confused and ends up back in the hospital where he is going to get another MRI but after getting out he sees a man that he remembers from somewhere. After the man kills the nurse he knows that somethings obviously wrong and he escapes. He teams up with Gina, the cab driver, and after they start getting chased and are trying to be killed, Martin Harris starts questioning who he really is. Later he finds out the truth and that his identity was never real but has an even bigger problem which is fixing something that he has done in the past before it’s too late.
I think Liam Neeson did such a great job with his character. He made the character so real and I found myself feeling sorry for Martin Harris. At first he was scared and confused and you could see that because he was like all over the place and sometimes yelling. Then at the end he wasn’t scared, he was upset and determined because he never doubted who he was. Everything started to come back to him and he wasn’t going to leave until he got to the bottom of the problem.
Knowing that this movie had Liam Neeson I figured there was going to be a lot of action. There was action in the movie, I’m not saying there wasn’t but I guess I was expecting a little more since Liam was in it. In the begining of the movie Liam’s character couldn’t really win a fight. Now this might have been because he bumped his head and maybe he had forgoten some of his moves. The reason I say this is because then at the end is when Liam’s character was really kicking butt and beating up the bad guy. Like I said the action was good in the movie but I think I was thinking there would be more because of Liam’s other movies, where he’s always winning the fights.
After you had seen the trailer for this movie, you wanted to find out what was going to happen. It’s a real mystery that keeps you thinking until the end of the movie, when everything comes together. You find yourself feeling sorry for the main character, Martin Harris, as he tries to figure out who and what he really is. This is a movie worth watching.
