Nina Sayers (Natalie Portman) is New York ballet dancer who has worked hard all her life to be a featured dancer for one of the shows. A new role comes forth that she is in the lead running for until a new dancer comes along named Lily (Mila Kunis) whom is a fierce competitor. In order for Nina to become successful in the role, she must lose herself and become a different person and that’s what she does. Weird things begin to happen around her and she doesn’t know why. Are they her delusions? Is someone out to get her? Will she get the part and be able to perform?

Review:

I must say, the film was a joy to watch. I now understand why Natalie received an award for this film, she was brilliant. I saw the struggle in her eyes, the pain in her body language and the drive in her dancing performances. Mila’s character, Lily, was a good alter person that fit in nicely with Nina’s persona. The acting was good and the screenplay was pleasing. I have never been to a ballet show and it was good to see behind-the-scenes of what a ballet dancer goes through. It takes a lot of heart and dedication to be a ballet dancer and I tip my hat off to those in the film and those in real life. All in all, I will see this film again.
