The Hangover Part II (R)

The Hangover Part II stars Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, and Ed Helms two years after the ruckus raised in Las Vegas. The sequel to The Hangover takes place in Thailand for Stu’s wedding. With memories of the unforgettable, yet disturbing experience of the bachelor party in Las Vegas, Stu (Helms) takes preventative measures by having a pre-wedding brunch with his friends Phil (Cooper), Doug (Bartha), and Alan (Galifianakis) instead of a bachelor party. After a beer and quiet night toasting marshmallows around a fire on the beach Stu, Alan, and Phil wake up in a run down apartment while Doug is back at the resort. In the apartment, the trio notice that Stu’s fiancées brother,Teddy, is missing, there’s a monkey with playing with severed finger, Alan’s head is shaved, Stu has a tattoo on his face, and they no one can remember anything that happened! The “wolf-pack” backtracks what they did by searching through their pockets for receipts and phones for clues. Throughout their search they run into alternative strip clubs, tattoo parlors and cocaine-dealing monkeys on the streets of Bangkok as they try and find Teddy before the wedding. After viewing this movie I found that it was strikingly familiar to the original Hangover movie, only a different setting and a different character being lost. The film making was exactly like the original down the the elevator shots and the shots on the rooftops. Nothing really impressed me about this film.If you are a fan on the original Hangover movie I would imagine you would be curious to view this film, however, I wouldn’t personally recommend it to be seen in the theater. My verdict: 2 stars
