Hanna is a movie like nothing I’ve seen before. This action mystery is set to the tone of a Grimm fairytale, Hanna is the story of a teenage girl raised by her father, a former agent with the CIA, who trains her to be the ultimate killing machine. Once her abilities as an assassin are fully developed, Hanna expresses to her father that she is ready for the mission she has been prepared to carry out. Being raised in a remote location in Finland, her voyage to a world entirely different than her own exposes her to things which she has only read about during her training with her father. While seeking to carry out her mission, Hanna meets a young girl and boy traveling with their family across Europe. With the help of her new found friends, Hanna is able to get closer to her target, but not without being chased by agents sent to kill her. This movie stars Saorise Lochhead (Hanna), Cate Blanchett (Marissa Wiegler), and Eric Bana (Erik Heller).
Director Joe Wright did a great job directing Hanna. Known for his setting which provide different tones to the movies he directs, Wright also directed Atonement which Lochhead made her acting debut. Another aspect of the film which I enjoyed was the music score provided by Back Lot Music. The music reminded me of Techno club music which made the action scene even more intense to watch.
This movie was nothing like I expected. If you like action films, Hanna is definitely one to see.
My verdict: 4 stars
