All is normal and well for the United States Marines until an unknown force attacks Earth. Brave soldiers span out to protect our country as they fight against invisible extraterrestrials with advance weaponry. Europe, China, other countries along with most of the U.S. are either destroyed or have been taken over, only Los Angeles, California is left to protect. 2nd Lt William Martinez (Ramon Rodriguez) and his team head into the heart of the battle on a search and find mission. Why are the creatures here? What do they want? Will there be a civilization left when the creatures get what they came for?
Review:I liked this film. It’s sort of your typical alien Earth take-over movie, as I do appreciate. A lot of gun fire, which is what I enjoyed the most. The storyline, the emotional scenes, and some heroic actions, didn’t over throw the sound of the guns from both the aliens and humans. I also like the ‘never quit’ attitude the marines in the film have. Even in the face of danger, they would always precede to go above and beyond the call of duty, a great recognition to all of our heroic soldiers of today. On the side note, I really love Michelle Rodriguez’s characters in most of her films. Hollywood has too many pretty girls parading on screen in skimpy outfits to sell movies. Don’t get me wrong, I do understand that sex sells, but sometimes, sell something else. I was thinking of other female actresses that can play her ‘tough girl, a man punched me in the face, I don’t cry instead I punch him back harder’ role besides Angelina Jolie; there isn’t. For one, Angelina would be the leading star in any role, so that’s out and other so-called tough actress are only as tough-looking as their tight low cut shirts and weak kicks to the groin. Michelle has it all, from her aggressive facial expressions to her ‘I’m a female not a lady’ attitude. I love that. Even though, she doesn’t debut until the middle of the film, all in all I will watch this movie again.
