Buried

Buried (95 min)

What would it be like to be buried alive? Well you will find out just by watching this film. It starts off with Ryan Reynolds as a man who has been kidnapped and buried alive in a fairly large coffin. It is here that the story takes place in its entirety. A trucker transporting through Iraq is taken hostage by what seems to be a terrorist attempt of getting back at the American soldiers. Reynolds is not a soldier though, but is mistakenly taken in as one and is buried alive with only a few lame sources of light, some of his own personal alcohol, his lighter his cell phone, and the clothes on his back buried in a big old coffin. I know you are asking why they would not just take away his cell phone and other necessities if they want him to die. And why would they bury him alive in a coffin big enough to maintain life in for a little while? Why wouldn’t they have just killed him on the spot? Well, they do not actually want him dead. They want ransom, of course and through a bunch of desperate and truly frustrating phone calls Reynolds’s character tries to make that happen. Reynolds is the lone actor in this movie and he seems to have held himself very well throughout the whole movie. This movie is genius in its directing. I mean it is a movie made with one actor and one setting and it was made to be over an hour and a half. That is quite impressive considering that the movie firmly holds your interest through to the very end. That is why this movie is so good and deserves some recognition. The setting held itself, the one actor held himself, and the story held itself mostly until the final moments. “Buried” is rated R for language and some violent content.

  1. Ryan Reynolds as usual does an outstanding job with his role in this film as he is buried alive in a coffin. Despite the fact that the entire movie was focused solely in a coffin. It does do an amazing job at making the viewer feel what Reynolds is feeling buried 4 feet under the earths surface.
