Piranha 3D

Piranha 3D (88 min)

When seeing this disturbing yet thrilling and entertaining blood and gore bath of a movie, you can definitely tell that it was made by a guy. It is the definition of a guy movie in every sense. Not just because of the harshly graphic scenes where we see the demented piranhas slowly devouring hundreds of teenagers who are “innocently” on their spring break, but also because of the whole spring break part. Where there is spring break partying, there are many gorgeous and young college women who are all for flaunting off what the good lord gave them. We find ourselves being mindlessly entertained with horrifyingly shocking violence that can feel a little over the top and unneeded sometimes as well as many willing, attracting females who feel the need to take off their clothes. This can only bring me to one conclusion; that this movie was made by for guys and me being a guy, of course I liked it. I couldn’t help myself from being mindlessly entertained by this crazy concoction of a film.  Although I did not see this in 3D, I could certainly tell that the scenes that were meant for 3D were fitting and probably made the already thrilling and entertaining film even more thrilling and entertaining. Disturbing? Yes. Wrong? It is in every way possible. Yet entertaining and thrilling? That’s also a yes. Piranha 3D is rated R for sequences of strong bloody horror violence and gore, graphic nudity, sexual content, language and some drug use.
