resident evil: AFTERLIFE

After what was supposed to be the last film, Resident Evil: Afterlife descends upon us with the hot unstoppable Alice sporting a lethal multiple personality complex hunting the last remnant of the umbrella corporation in Japan. However what starts as overwhelming action slowly rescinds into a routine after hours HBO movie, glossed with superior 3-D.How the heck did that happen?

the opening is just like the original (and best) matrix. The exploding walls. Dodging fire via walking on the wall. The leather gear with gunbelts(Ala trinity). The slowmotion, the raybans. Even when the heroin jumps out of a window and descends in a tracking shot it recalls matrix 2 and the one memorable scene from that debacle.

The villians seem to have no reason to exsist. They just pop up because the story calls for something to happen, and none of them are interesting except for the chief villian who needs to go back to acting school. Other than him. A rather large and impressive juggernaut appears in the middle of the film but his exit is so fast you barely have time to marvel at him.

The 3-D is topnotch. When three throwing stars shoot into the screen, you know it’s for real. It’s just a shame the script wasn’t as good.

  1. I agree with you that the film lacked a good script as the ending was rather improvised than done logically and cohesively. However I think that the storyline up until the ending was great. Mysterious, full of action and captivating. Furthermore I think that the villains do not just pop in the film. A perfect example is the ‘Executioner’ in the film who attacks Alice. The storyline here is trying to show the extent of the mutation within living things has evolved. I think that every villain put int he film was there for a reason. The only fault in regards to that was that the Director could of made the reason as to why certain villains in the film were there more simple to comprehend for the audience’s sake.
