the last airbender

Director M. Night Shyamalan pretty much obliterates himself with the worst. I mean worst most uncomfortable movie experience i have had at the show since DUNE. For a man i once likened to Alfred Hitchcock he has really flushed himself down the new jersey drain by turning out the same old tired lazy, dead emotionless dribble.

If you go back a couple years. This all really started with THE VILLAGE. I remember critics being so ticked off they gave away the end just to stick it to him. At the time i really didn’t get the frustration, but now i’m starting to feel he’s past his expiration date and may need to actually go back to school or find a new career. Maybe sell insurance i don’t know.

The main problem with this movie other than the lighting, the effects and attrocious acting is this crippling exposition which drags on for days. I went to the bathroom came back and this kid was still talking. About what you ask? Honestly i forgot.  All these stupid rules about fire nations and avatars is just hoaky. What’s up with the ancient duds to, If this is supposed to be the future why are people living in huts using rocks and sticks to make fire? What are they still dealing with the black plague?

Oh and don’t bother seeing this in 3-D it looks like the screen is smudged or something i kept taking my glasses off. And that really peeved me.

If someone hands you this gift for the hollidays ask them for a dollar cheeseburger at burger king instead. That’ll last in your system longer.

  1. Very interesting view on the film. I would agree with probably every point you made… if I had never seen the television show. Having an appreciation for the plot-line, characters, and even some of the “why’s” you mentioned is probably the key for watching the movie. If you had never heard of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” I would expect your reaction. But, at least to me, the film was made for the fans. So I wouldn’t say M. Night ‘obliterated himself with the worst’, but that he did a very risky move of creating a film with a very specific audience in mind.
No, I’m not a die-hard Airbender fan – I’ve only seen it three or four times on TV – and No, I’m honestly not the biggest fan of M. Night recently either (shame).
But, it’s your opinion, and you spoke truthfully, so – good review mate. Keep it up.
PS- Yes, the 3D was TERRIBLE!!!
