The Movie Salt you could say is one of the most anticipated movies of the summer? i beg to differ. The Antics in this movie well do qualify to be a summer movie but to be a good movie?. Not even close this movie is a predictable mess. The over the top action sequences take away from what could have been a fairly enjoyable action flick. We get minor info about the characters who they are or where they came from. Which can really take aways from a movies dignity to try and entertain the audience. I Was not until about briefly before the climax began to unfold and we got all these unnecessary twists that did work but were not needed. It felt quick and rushed director Phillip Noyce really tries also to entertain the public but in the long run. Salt needs a little more pepper before it can be the next Bourne movie. Maybe if they would have taken the time into plot development there might have been something here.
But instead in order to pack in an 100 min movie. With car chases , jumping of buildings. Hanging of the sid of 50 ft high story buildings. This movie is so fake in every way it has all those action scenes like in Knight & Day; But see that movie had a little humor. Salt on the other hand wants us to take the movie seriously. It never knows where it is going. They want us the Audience to actually buy all the stuff that salt is capable of doing. But there is no humor or jokes to actually makes us believe that the director wants us to know this movie is fictional. But instead no , they want us to believe that any normal person such as “Salt” can leap of buildings onto a moving semi-truck or elude a police car. They need to put a leash on her , because pretty much every chance she gets she escapes.
The tagline for the movie is “Who Is Salt?!” and going into the movie i did not know what that for the most part “meant” but beside that, After seeing it i now do. And well even tho the final scenes do work. Its not enough to save such a disrupt picture. Evaleen Salt (Jolie) is a special agent for the CIA or government whatever. After a defective a Russian defective enters and basically gives himself up to the feds. Declaring that today a Russian spy will travel to the US and kill the Russian President. Which sounds stupid? yes i know the thing is that is when i knew this movie was gonna turn from bad to stupid to mediocre. Now eluding the scene where she was being held from questioning. Now on the run , proclaiming she is innocent. She is now wanted by the government. But dedicated to find her husband , who she fears is now been kidnapped. So that does live the question to us, even after the movie is over we still ask our selfs “Who Is Salt”?
The Acting here was better than anticipated , Jolie gave a decent performance enough for me to recommend to the basis of this audience. But with great talent like Jolie has she can not save this movie. From the sudden but clichéd but predictable turn of events in this rip-off. There is good supporting work here. But the expression that Salt shows toward her husband even after the audience has known what happened was really touching. Like i said she gives it her best but it just is not good enough i felt like i was watching one of her other bad films such as Tomb Raider: Cradle of life and Mr & Mrs Smith. Which were not her best work like in a very unknown film Hackers. Back in here hayday. But fans of Jolie for her other great work i have a feeling even tho i found enthusiasm in her rushed performances; I Do not think audiences will connect but that is just me.
Director Phillip Noyce tries to hard to introduce a new female protagonist to the audiences in this day & age of cinema. It is kind of hard to make us love a character & to get to know her. He is trying also to get us to love “Salt” bring her into our minds as a new female antagonist. But in the long run like i said it just does not work. His direction skill was bad his idea of cinematography was also of the utmost disappointing. He is doing his best and he puts up a good effort in directing this lame action picture. In the end he will fail. He take this script and turns it into a high-tech big budget summer action flick. I Mean the stuff he has “Salt” do makes Spider-Man look bad. I Mean come on if you want a flown-blown action movie thats better than this. I Would recommend this little film you may have heard of it Inception?.
The visuals were you could say Worthy. I Mean its not like we have not seen all these places before. You are really not looking at the visuals as much as you would think in this movie. The director is trying to hard to keep you in the storyline yet to make you ponder around with your eyes. Tho we do get a short glimpse of Korea in the opening sequence that was not bad gives you a sense of scared and lack of originality. But for that i cant complain. But as stated your not going to be to immersed into the visuals of this movie. Your more involved in the story. If you are?. I Was not , i say stuff coming at you a mile away. There are some minor decent shots of the white – house and parts of Russia. Which were all the more interesting as oppose to what the movies overall cause and perspective of the plot is aiming to do.
Overall the film you should skip possibly rent but i really did not care for this movie. Its not the worst film this summer , but its pretty close. Audiences i feel after seeing it once will not want to see this movie again same as me perhaps. But if you do see this you are probably wasting your hard-earned money or the money that someone gave you to go see this movie. Kind of like me. Salt is dumb , medoicre , crude , and just repetitious. None of the stuff in this movie i believe is plausible. But hey if you really want a movie like this that is ten-times better maybe check out From Paris with love. Or something. I Mean after seeing this film you will realize to yourself. That wait a min i have seen this all before. And for the most part yes!. Yes you have and just like everything i have been saying you will know right from the start where this movie is going and is headed..straight for death.

Interesting take. I would see it four more times in theaters, and pay to see it four more times! To me, at least, it was predictable in an unpredicatble way. The entire time I KNEW what was going to happen, but there’s points in the film that make you second guess everything you KNEW. So, yes, after the first 20 minutes I knew almost all of the end – but after 40 minutes I went back to the drawing board and had to second-guess everything I “knew”, or thought I knew. If you go into a movie thinking it’s going to suck, well, it’ll probably suck. But keep an open mind and you may have a different view.
But, I must admit, I have a fascinations with Russians. I love them. Their language, their sense of humor (none!), some of my best friends are Russian – so anything with Russians in it – I’m probably going to love… not matter how bad it actually is.
