The Karate Kid is one of those very unlikely few movies , that well is far superior than its original , It was for the most part the unforgettable pairing ofJackie Chan , and Jaden Smith is what really gets you into this film , and feel immersed into the characters. You feel ones pain in how the other character , feels , you want them to succeed. You are rooting the whole movie for justice to be served. Which well if you did not feel that compassion well then mainly thismovie is not for you just saying , the story here is basic you got Dre (Jaden Smith) who is moving from Detroit to China because of his mothers Work , and he soon realizes it will be hard to fit in with some kids you just met , soon after arriving , Dre falls for a fellow classmate , who to him is easy on the eyes. Well anyway with this movie there comes the bad along with the good , there are some school bullies that well don’t like him talking to that girl , so they must feel they need to teach him a lesson.
This is where most parents need to be concerned with their Children watching the violence was pretty well you could say Graphic? anyway they bumble him to a pulp , making him look weak and useless in front of everyone. Soon , he thinks that he needs to learn Karate or Kung -Fu so that way he can defeat. The bullies if they ever cross his path again. This is where we meet the other protagonist of the story Mr. Hann (Jackie Chan) , a lonely maintenance man which he never really talks , or is social for that matter. After basically saving Dre’s live from getting the crap beat out of him. He agrees to teach Dre to get him in shape for the up and coming Open Kung-Fu tournament. Which he only has so long to prepare for.
The Performances here were really strong , maybe not the best (I Do not see them being nominated for any academy awards soon , but the feel and the effort is there which is all that really counts. The Directing here i do not really know the directors name at this moment , but anyway. He takes the reigns of this beloved classic and turns it into a stunning movie , it holds you , this movie at the end will make you stand up and cheer , (possible spolier). But for the most part this movie does deserve what i am giving it. The Stunning Visuals were just truly a work of art , The Cinematography here was truly awe-inspiring , they take China and really do it justice by taking us on a journey , to places well mainly that we have never imagined.
And in closing , This movie is true genuine , pure – heart goodness. This movie is lengthy running 140mins which is what made me a little bored , there are certain scenes , that run on longer then they should they drag on when they shouldn’t you can tell when they are doing that. This movie should have ran a slick 90mins it might have been worser , but with the running time they had , they had more time to explain some of the back stories here which can really help us the audience out which really helped. Karate Kid , at times does not know where it is going , but knows what he is doing. Good Action , Good Performances , stunning Visuals , this movie will make you stand and applaud at the end credits.
