Marmaduke did succeed at something you could say freaking me out , that animated dog sequence towards the end gave me the creeps. Marmaduke has heart and a soul , and beyond that really?. Is absolute chaos this movie for and 88min drap comedy still drags on longer then it should i feel the 81min running time would have been more surface but still that can barley out live the films many flaws , and what not. At the screening i was at a little boy said “how can this not be funny it has George Lopez in it”? .. Well it was George Lopez that mad this movie all the more terrible then what it was , the supporting cast here adds nothing to the films , terrible screenplay and already bad acting , Owen Wilson has the chops to pull this off , just not in this movie. But they was one particular character i enjoyed.. the one Giuseppe voiced by the very funny (Christopher Mintz-Plasse he was whaty got me though it.
Then we got the Human actors , Judy Greer and William H. Macy which they looked like they just were in this for the money , they was no enthusiasm in there faces they must have relized? “OMG! i’m in a bad lame live action comedy”.. but if only they would come to reality. This movie is another perfect example of movies they should stay on paper then rather make a leap to the big-screen. Should have the good sense to stay on the page rather then in real – life. I Like how in the film , they pass of the Dog park as like a High school for Dogs which is manly funny in a way , the little kids were laughing in the theater (that shows something).. The crudeness of the film is also need to be tested considering the lame crude gags are unfunny and a utter waste of everyone’s time.
If you think about it Marmaduke is relatively better than Beverly Hills Chihuahua which is not a compliment , as i stated this movie is mainly for the young ones , im sure they will have more fun with it , then lets say the parents
and teens , the parents will put up with a movie like this for there children , same with the Diary of a wimpy kid (another one of those big dissapointments this year , that should have stayed a book) the comic strip which was adapted from Brad Anderson which started back in the late 1950’s i think will be disappointed with the outcome of this film , i don’t think he likes his famous strip to be remembered buy the dud that is this film. But i say stick with the infamous strip over this movie , this also tries to hard to be the next big thing which it is not , the best dog movie ever (in my opinion) is My Dog Skip (2001) which is instant classic , that movie was going places , Now Marmaduke is going places down the toilet.
The film kicks off where we meet the dog giving us a nice sweet soft opening to the film stating HS is stuff which granted it is but why do i want advice from a Great Dane Mut?.. thats what i was asking myself. i found myself laughing medley at some of the gags and jokes which is all the film has to rely on .. and in the films , final sequence it is so dreaded and so panned last minute.. it does not help the movies cause , and rite before the credits all the CGI dogs dancing and what not was just creepy and then the movie was also incredibly predictable throw in acting Heavyweights , Kifer Sutherland , Emma Stone , Steve Coogan (ect.) whose talents are completely wasted here.. the film like i said will entertain any 6-8 year olds who love dogs but for the parents and the teens if you must see it , you mite wanna get a pillow cuz this film is a dud..
