The Prince of Persia – The Sands of Time

Prince of Persia – The Sands of Time has been brought to life on screen by the creators of The Pirates of the Caribbean.  Mike Newell (director) and film crew members Boaz Yakin, Doug Miro, Carlo Bernard and Jordan Mechner who brings this video game series to the movie cinemas, taking us on an action packed adventure set in medieval Persia in the year 500.

A story about a young street boy named Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal) who is adopted by King Sharaman (Ronald Pickup)  himself to join the Persian royal family, after witnessing Dastan’s courage within the village streets.  Dastan joined by Princess Tamina ( Gemma Arterton) of the Holy city Alamut, flee from the Persian palace as fugitives in a race to help Dastan clear his name in a plot to have him take blame for the murder of a member of his family.  Dastan learns of the dagger that Tamina has sworn an oath to protect with the ancient gods.  A powerful weapon which is also pursued by evil forces who want to use it to bring forth armegeddon.

The costumes i found to be quite remarkable.  Brilliantly designed for each of the characters and sexy i might add.  Penny Rose (costume designer) who has designed costumes for nearly forty films which include Evita, Pirates of the Caribbean, Shadowlands and so forth has brought our cast of characters in The Prince of Persia their own costumes to identify their own persona.  And I for one absolutely loved the style and flair of 800 year old embroidered patterns that Penny Rose created whilst working on this film.

Another aspect I enjoyed immensely were the stunts in this film.  It was like Indiana Jones meets Mission Impossible.  Just fully grabs your attention at how these stunts were choreographed and well executed during filming.  Big fan!

So my overall thoughts on this film has to be a WOW!  I loved it and is a movie that i myself would watch again and again and a must see movie for all.

Until next time, see you at the movies!
