James Mangold is possibly the most underrated director in Hollywood, his films getting respect, but no respect is going directly to him. It took me a while to realize his genius, because I never knew what films he directed. Now that I do, I think that he is one of Hollywood’s biggest assets and most talented people. This is my list of the top 5 films that James Mangold has ever made.

5. Cop Land (1997) – The epic police film is a good Summer movie that is riveting and very action packed. Written and directed by Mangold

4. Girl, Interrupted (1999) – The factual, book-based film is riveting and has great acting from Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie. Written and directed by Mangold.

3. Walk the Line (2005) – The Johnny Cash biopic is an interesting movie that is very well done. It houses the talent of great acting, and has good writing and direction, both from Mangold.

2. 3:10 to Yuma (2007) – The fantastic Western is remade and more well done than I could have imagined in this blockbuster. Great acting, direction and writing.

1. Identity (2003) – This thrilling film is one of my favorites, and has fantastic writing and acting.

His new film, Knight and Day, came out today, and is supposed to be very good. Hopefully, I’ll have a review on that soon.
