Top 5 Johnny Depp roles

I believe that most of us can agree that Johnny Depp is simply brilliant at what he does.  Depp completely consumes himself in every role he takes on.  Below are my personal picks for his top 5 roles.

5. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)
-Teaming up with Tim Burton, and picking up right where Gene Wilder left off. Mr. Depp plays the mysteriously odd character of Willy Wonka to a ”T”
4. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)
-The very first of the Pirate series, we get to see Depp in a whole new light. His portrayal of humorous pirate “captain” Jack Sparrow is sure to impress.
3. Alice in Wonderland (2010)
-This timeless classic is well known to nearly everyone. Johnny plays the kind hearted protector of Alice, the “Mad Hatter”
2. Edward Scissorhands (1990)
-Nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an actor, Depp plays the sensitive young man with scissors for hands who falls in love.
1. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007)
-In this Broadway musical remake, Mr. Depp stars as Sweeney Todd. Johnny performs as the evil barber in London who’s business brings nothing but harm to all its patrons. Depp proves to be well-rounded once again as he performs his own vocals in song. Not to mention being nominated for 8 awards including best performance at the academy awards.

  1. I loved Blow and Fear and Loathing, but as far as individual performances, i like these. As far as Donnie Brasco, it was a very good movie, but Johnny Depp is alongside Al Pacino, who performed wonderfully in that film.

  2. I’d say:

    1. Ichabod Crane – Sleepy Hollow
    2. Edward Scissorhands – Edward Scissorhands
    3. John Dillinger – Public Enemies
    4. Sweeney Todd – Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
    5. Captain Jack Sparrow – Pirates of the Caribbean
