Movie and Film Reviews (MFR) Drama Phoebe in Wonderland

Phoebe in Wonderland

Phoebe in Wonderland surrounds the life of a little girl, played by the incredible Elle Fanning.

Phoebe is a little girl struggling with her family life, other kids at school, and feeling like she is different.

Her parents (Felicity Huffman and Bill Pullman) never see eye to eye when it comes to their children, especially when it comes to Phoebe, which in turn makes her feel that she is responsible for her parents constantly fighting. Phoebe’s sister, with obvious jealousy and resentment towards her as well as her parents, states numerous times throughout the film that she wants a different sister.

Starring as Alice in her school play, Phoebe finally feels like she fits in. Especially when she grows a strong bond to her new role model, the drama teacher played by the ever so talented Patricia Clarkson.

All of the emotion was well portrayed through all of the actors. Realistically portrayed…the struggles of a family especially if the family has a child with special needs. The strain on parents and on the sibling was made quite obvious and rang true to reality.

Among the incredible acting, plot, script, and camera work, the music was also impressive. It really backed up each and every moment with the desired feeling of the scene. It successfully strengthened the emotion in the scene.

With an absolutely brilliant cast, Phoebe in Wonderland was nothing short of phenomenal. It is a sweet, inspiring drama. Complete with humor, a bit of mystery, and family dramas; Phoebe in Wonderland accomplished the ever sought after, ‘whole package’ film.  It was a new twist on an old tale. It was risky, but quite successful.
