Step Brothers

“We’re here to fuck shit up!” John C. Reilly and Will Ferrell make the perfect pair in Step brothers. Its a laugh out loud comedy that will keep you laughing all week. Its definitley not a movie you should watch with your 12 year old sister, unless you want her to start saying “I wanna roll you up into a little ball and shove you up my vagina.” It has its R rating for a reason and Ferrell and Reilly make it even better and more crude in the unrated version. I would suggest watching the unrated version, because “Its my fancy sauce.”

Brennan Huff (Ferrell) and Dale Doback (Reilly) are grown men still living at home with their single parents. When Dale’s dad Robert (Richard Jenkins) hooks up with Brennan’s mom Nancy (Mary Steenburgen), they decide to get hitched and the two men are forced to live in the same room. Their immature behavior and reckless attitude soon forces their parents to ground them, and force them to find jobs.

This movie was hilarious. Not only did Ferrell and Reilly make the perfect step brothers, but Jenkins and Steenburgen made the perfect step parents. They made the film even better. You have the ridiculous middle aged men that are stuck in their pre teen years, and you have their parents who end up literally going insane. And then there’s Adam Scott who plays the role of Derek, no one could play more of an asshole brother. He played that role very well, along with Kathryn Hahn who played his wife Alice. Not many people can spit out those ridiculous, yet hilarious lines, with a straight face. Jumping from How To Lose a Guy In 10 Days to this graphic comedy is impressive. I would say you need to have this movie on your dvd shelf forever. Because you can watch it over and over again.

  1. This is an excellent review, though I disagree with your position on Step Brothers. I was not amused by it at all. I’m not much of a Farrell or Reily fan.
Their comedy is just not my cup of tea.
Excellent review though. Didn’t enjoy watching the movie (actually turned it off early) but I did enjoy reading your review on it.

  2. Well you have to be a fan of those two in order to enjoy their movies. Its one of those movies that you either love or hate. But thank you for your comment on my review. It makes me feel good since I just started.

  3. I just cant take John C.Reiily seriously as a comedic actor!!! Good review though I agree about your comments on Adam Scott he was perfectly Cast.

  4. Good review even though I couldn’t take the movie seriously even as a realistic comedy. I think they pushed the idea of men who never move out the house a little too far.
