In a long line of super hero movies, we get our next dose in the form of ‘Iron Man’ first saw in 1963 created by Stan Lee. From comic books to the big screen, marvel brings this bad boy to cinemas in style, with an all star cast of bad boy Robert Downey Jr playing the lead role of boy genius and former M.I.T. whiz kid Tony Stark and his alter ego Iron man. With all superhero films there is almost certainly a love interest and it is no surprise that this continues with the gorgeous Pepper Potts played by Gwyneth Paltrow by Starks side. Paltrow hasn’t got a big role in the movie but her presence is felt impeccably, and no superhero movie is set without the villain. Jeff Bridges grows a beard and shaves the head for this role as Obadiah Stane, a partner in Stark Enterprises and mentor to Tony Stark. Also making an appearance is Terrence Howard, air force officer Lt. James Rhodes, speculating and comforting friend to Downey’s character.
The story.Iron man has something different than other hero movies, Tony Stark has no super human powers, he built his. Downey also brings humour, whit and intelligents to the role.Stark the multi millionaire and girl craving playboy gets captured by Afghan enemies while on a visit to sell weapons made by him and his crew at Stark enterprises. Held in captivity Stark is made to build a missile for his captives, but instead constructs a suit of titanium armour to escape back to L.A. seeing for himself that his weapons were in the wrong hands, he enhances his first time attempt with a slick hot rod red titanium suit with missiles and can fly. He becomes Iron Man. With a shattered heart he uses a uni-beam projector placed in his chest to stay alive, he tries to protect the people as a hero who’s built, not born. In his way is Jeff Bridges the Iron Monger more interested in making money than saving lives. With a lot of action movies there is fighting, explosions and sexy girls, iron man delivers it all with a little upset towards the end not to be missed.
Verdict.With action and entertainment throughout, Iron Man is a very solid movie. Stark also would me my most favourable on screen character with Downey back to his best
