Dark City

Cast:¬†Rufus Sewell, Keifer Sutherland, William Hurt, Jennifer Connelly, Richard O’BrianDirector:¬†Alex ProyasBreakdown: This is a movie that has many good parts to it. For one, a veteran Director, Writer and Producer, Alex Proyas (The Crow), and a great cast. The story is captivating, rich in detail and it actually makes since.Plot: A man wakes up in a bathtub with a small hole on his forehead. He can’t remember a thing about himself besides the english language before that moment. He walks into the next room over, and finds the body of a woman lying on the floor. Being a visionary cult classic, this film introduces curious thoughts and a purely awesome story.Best Aspects: The best aspects of this movie were the good acting (especially from Kiefer Sutherland, the stammering doctor). Rufus Sewell and Jennifer Connelly do fantastically, as well as William Hurt.Another good aspect would be the perfection in the moments in the movie and the music. Great sound mixing, and great camera work. It set the background perfectly with a darker tone than normal cameras.Performances: Like I have stated, the performances of the actors in this movie were phenomenal, at the least. The aliens acted very well, too, thanks to people like Richard O’Brien and Ian Richardson.Bottom Line: This film was very well made, and probably Alex Proyas’s best film. He really adds a sense of audacious weirdness to the film. The film should have received a Best Original Screenplay for Proyas.
