Written and based around the music of Abba comes Mamma Mia! From the minute the music begins to thump, you feel yourself bouncing in your seats. You feel the emotion and you are instantly drawn into the story and are taken away into another world. Mamma Mia is a comedy that takes you to a small island in Greece set in modern times.

Sophie is getting married tomorrow and she wants nothing more than to have her father give her away, something every little girl dreams of for their wedding. Sophie finds her mother’s old diary and begins snooping around for clues as to whom he might be. Sophie narrows it down to three possible fathers. In a desperate attempt to discover who she is, Sophie invites all three men! When all three men show up for the wedding, what follows is a hysterical musical journey to find what Sophie and her mother really want.

Meryl Streep stars as Donna, the love sick proud mother of Sophie. I don’t think there is anything this woman can’t do. Ms. Streep turns 60 this year and you’d never know it the way she prances around on screen. She gives an unforgettable performance.

Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, and Stellan Skarsgard star as the potential fathers. Sam, Harry, and Bill (respectively) all meet by chance and are instantly thrown into a friendship as they try to figure out why they were invited to the wedding of a young woman they’ve never met. As they each discover that they may be Sophie’s father, they each deal with it in a very different way.

Amanda Seyfried is an up and coming star who takes the roll of Sophie and delivers a spectacular performance. Amanda is a very bright and beautiful young woman who is making a big impact on Hollywood. Dominic Cooper stars as Sky, Sophie’s fiance. He is the yin to Sophie’s yang. Dominic gives the performance of a young man scared to begin this journey but yet so excited to.

The background scenes, the costumes, the lighting, the directing, the acing, the singing, the music every aspect of this movie draws you in. You are enthralled by the lavishness yet simplicity the film creates. This is a family fun movie that everyone will enjoy.
