Matt Franklin (Topher Grace), a recent MIT grad, doesn’t know what to do with his life. He is stuck at a minimum wage job fantasizing about a high school crush named, Tori Frederking (Teresa Palmer). Matt’s twin sister, Wendy (Ann Faris) has a promising future and a fiancée on the side. His best friend, Barry Nathan (Dan Fogler) didn’t go to college like the others because he works as a car salesman. Barry gets fired and is stuck in life just like Matt. Matt runs into Tori one day and she invites him to a party. Is this his chance to confess his true love for her? Will she keep him in the friend-zone? Will Dan take revenge out on his former boss?
Review:
The only thing I liked about this film was the songs. It really took me back to the 80s and it was awesome. The movie overall, I didn’t like. It felt like it was trying too hard at attempting something that has been done many many times and failed. Even the loud-color costumes and big hair spray styles didn’t work for me. The script is filled with cliques like getting revenge on the boss or trying to impress your high school crush with lies and stupid acts. I like Topher as an actor but I’m starting to give up on him. He hasn’t done a good in film for a while…or ever because of the typecast that he is in; maybe I was just a fan of his from That 70s show. The other characters acting didn’t appeal to me, it actually bored me. Anyway, all in all, I will never see this film again.
